The thorns that pop out from the ground might be part of the Great Tree's root system. Apparently Herbert and Elena need to study them for their work on the Tree's defensive mutations. Collect fresh thorns to see how they transform over time.

I've read the report. They might be right. Therefore, if we want to win this battle once and for all, we have to destroy the mighty Great Tree. I hope we can avoid this. For now, let's stick to the traditional methods and see if they work.
