An Audience with Marguerite de Desirae

We now have a fairly good idea of what happened. It is important for me, as the strategy expert of the House de Desirae, to know all the details of this crime.

Some unknown "Ally" bestowed upon Armando de Doucer some sort of knowledge that allowed him to gain power over the darkness. The price he paid for this was the need for other beings' blood. Armando became the first vampire, and he then infected the other de Doucers. Then, I'm not yet sure how, the Artifact of darkness was delivered onto the ship and this turned our home into a vampire incubator.

Part of the energy was channeled to the magic artifacts at the Boarder and caused the twilight creatures to appear. They turned our beautiful palace into their instrument of vengeance, their revenge for the power they lost at the Great Ball twenty years ago.

There's only two things that aren't clear - how the artifact turned up on the Galleon, and the identity of this mysterious "Ally." I have a hunch about the former...

So, we've unraveled this mystery and all thanks to you. In gratitude, the House de Desirae has unanimously decided to share the story of the Valir castle with you. I will tell you everything we know.

Soon after our victory at the Great Ball, the daughter of Adrian Valir, a Kanian Duke, died. Thanks to Tensess' sacrifice, everyone who lives on the allods are given the hope of resurrection and eternal life. Everyone except Svetlana Valir, whose soul was stolen by magic. Priests of Tensess were unable to do anything and so the Duke turned to Dakkar de Desirae, our necromancer. Prince Dakkar loved Svetlana and began the Rescue Ritual immediately. But something terrible happened during the ritual and we're still unsure as to what. The castle was cursed, its inhabitants abandoned it, Adrian Valir turned undead, and Prince Dakkar and his beloved have been missing ever since.
