A history lesson is in order.
The oldest Sarnaut state is the elven kingdom of Irene. It existed back in the days of Junes, who began to build their empire.
Irene was a closed state and followed the principles of beauty. The elves didn't let anything in their state if it contradicted their ideals. Everyone who crossed the line was subject to destruction.
We don't know much about that period. At some point, the elves decided to undergo the change and turn into dragon-like creatures. The strongest mages of the kingdom managed to do it. They prepared the spells and put everyone in a magic two-century sleep.
Many things changed over the years. Junes destroyed most dragons and fell victims to the curse.
The elven life was significantly changed after the Transformation. They abandoned their old ideals... however, not all mages agreed to do so. The recent Conclave of the Great Mages was destined to split.
Problems with vampires, riots, and unrest in the kingdom made my people spread around the world, forming separate Houses.
